“One Armed Bandit” will headline as the featured rodeo act of the Labette County Fair in July, according to Rod Ladrum of the fair board.
“The One-Armed Bandit Act,” alias the “Bovine Dominators,” also known as John Payne and his Florida Cur Head Dogs and Cattle show, is making news as a specialty act on the Professional Cowboy Rodeo Association tour.
The act, which started at the Ponca City 101 Ranch Rodeo in 1987, has been attracting a lot of attention in arenas across the country. Read more

The Eli Young Band — coming to the Labette County Fair in July

The Labette County Fair Board has reached an agreement with a nationally known musical group to headline the 2011 Labette County Fair.  Universal South Recording Artist, Eli Young Band, will bring record chart hits, like “When It Rains” and “Home” to the main stage on Tuesday July 26.” We are thrilled to have this big of an entertainer to help us celebrate our 100th Anniversary” said Jeff Falkenstien, Entertainment Chair for the fair board.  “This type of event is only fitting for such an important milestone for our county.” Read more

Gypsy Brackney of Parsons designed the winning logo that will used for the next year as the 100th Annual Labette County Fair approaches. The event is set for July 25-30, 2011. The logo will be used in all promotional materials as the fair approaches.

Between 275 and 300 people attended the dinner and auction held Saturday night at the Oswego Community Center, and more than $40,000 was raised to help fund the centennial Labette County Fair next summer.
Fair board president Ken Foster commented, “It made us proud to see so many folks turn out for this event. It shows the support that our fair, and our kids, have in Labette County.” Read more

The 4-H and FFA premium sale at the Labette County Fair was a record-breaker with $82,850.00 in premiums and $40,548.32 in bids.
This compares to $97,150 at last year’s premium sale. Read more

Copies are also available at the Labette County Extension Office in Altamont. Registration forms will be available at the above website soon. The Labette County Fair will be held July 26-31.

The Labette County Fair Board was held on May 26, at the fair board office at the fair grounds in Oswego.
The meeting was called to order by President Steve McKinzie with nine 9 members and two guest present. The April minutes were read by Bill Chapman, Jr. and were approved as read. John Strickland gave treasurer’s report. Read more
