A spaghetti dinner and auction fund raiser will be held this Saturday, March 13, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Chetopa Multipurpose Room. Proceeds will go to assist Sam Nading with medical expenses. Included in the meal in addition to spaghetti will be salad, bread and a drink. Read more

The students of Chetopa Junior High will be presenting “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” on Thursday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the old Chetopa gymnasium.
Admission is free and seating will be general admission. The play is written by Dave Barton and Matt Bond and is based on the novel by Mark Twain. The show is produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc.

Students in grades 1-3 at Chetopa Elementary School participated in the annual spelling bee at Chetopa Elementary.  Kade Schultz, third grade, won the spelling bee.  Jaylee Sanders, third grade, was runner up and Andre Appleton, second grade, took third place.  The winner does not move on to another spelling bee; however, does hold the coveted title of Chetopa Elementary Spelling Bee Champ.  From left to right:  Andre Appleton, Jaylle Sanders and Kade Schultz.

USD 505 has a new school sign located at the football field coming into Chetopa. The sign will be completed as weather permits. See the picture and story in this week’s Labette Avenue.

Employees of the Chetopa State Bank have really gone the extra mile to decorate the bank lobby for the Christmas season.  Throughout the area, merchants, schools and individuals are getting “into the season” with their creative talents to make this a special season for all to enjoy.
