The Mound Valley Flagpole Festival is a two-day event on Friday, June 24 from 5:30-8 p.m. and Saturday, June 25 from 6:45 a.m. until after the fireworks display that begins at 9:30 p.m..
Many of the events held during the festival will be held at the Mound Valley Community Center while other events will be held at the ball field. Read more

The community of Chetopa will be honoring Kim Juenemann on Saturday, June 25 with a day filled with activities to benefit her family and to fund the Kim Juenemann Scholarship Fund. Kim Juenemann recently passed away from cancer.
The first event of the day will be the 5K run/walk. The Kim J. 5K will begin at 10 a.m. at the Chetopa City Park. Entry fee is $10. Checks can be made payable to FFA/Benefit.  Read more

New director, Christopher Langsford will be behind the baton when the Community Band performs on Thursday, 23 as part of the Music In the Park series in Parsons.
The year marks the 14th anniversary of the re-formation of the Community Band originally formed by former Parsons music instructor, Gordan McDonald.
The Music in the Park series evolved from the Community Band’s twice-monthly concerts that were originally performed on the gazebo of the Parsons Plaza.
Next week’s featured artist will be Aaron Keith.
The Music in the Park concerts are held at The Seaton Family Pavilion located in Forest Park at 13th and Broadway in Parsons. Read more

A benefit day for the familly of Kim Juenemann will be held on Saturday, June 25. Several events will be taking place at the Mae Lessley Community Building and the adjoining park in Chetopa.
Tim Blankenship will host a 5K run/walk starting at the city park by the swimming pool. The event will begin at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $10. The route will take runners and walker out through Elmore Park and back. Students will be gathering sponsors for this 5K. Read more
