Holy Week services will be held at the following locations:
• The First Baptist Church in Chetopa will have a Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. in Veterans Park on Easter Sunday, April 24. In the event of rain the Sunrise Service will be held at the church at 721 Maple Street.
Following this service a breakfast will be held at the church. Sunday school will follow at 9:45 a.m. with morning worship taking place at 10:45 a.m. The church will not hold evening services on Easter Sunday. Read more

The following Easter egg hunts will take place in the area:
Oswego Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will host an Easter egg hunt Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m. There will be age categories ranging from 0-10 years old and prizes will be given in each age group. Fresh donuts and coffee or juice will be offered to everyone.
An Easter egg hunt for kids ages 12 and under will be held on Friday, April 22, at 3:30 p.m. at Big Brutus in West Mineral. There will not be a charge to participate in the hunt but a tour of Big Brutus will still cost.

The Oswego Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. The event will be held in Riverside Park. Children up to fifth grade are invited to participate. If if rains children are invited to bring their baskets to the shelter house at the northeast corner of the park to get their candyChetopa will hold their Easter egg hunt at the football field on Saturday, April 23 beginning at 10 a.m. There will be lots of candy and prizes to win. Pictures with the Easter bunny will begin at 9 a.m. The hunt will be held at the old gym if it rains. Read more

In February, Rachael Green. a senior at Oswego High School, was involved in a vehicle accident and lost her left eye. It will have to heal before she can get an artificial eye, and in the meantime she is wearing an eye patch. Last weekend when the OHS prom was held, students at Oswego High School wore their own eye patches that matched their prom dresses so Rachael wouldn’t feel alone as she wore hers. “One Armed Bandit” will headline as the featured rodeo act of the Labette County Fair in July, according to Rod Ladrum of the fair board.
“The One-Armed Bandit Act,” alias the “Bovine Dominators,” also known as John Payne and his Florida Cur Head Dogs and Cattle show, is making news as a specialty act on the Professional Cowboy Rodeo Association tour.
The act, which started at the Ponca City 101 Ranch Rodeo in 1987, has been attracting a lot of attention in arenas across the country. Read more
