A Labor Day Night Disc Golf Blind Draw Doubles Tournament will be held on Sunday, Sept. 5, at the Altamont Lake (3 1/2 miles south of Altamont. Thirty-six holes: 18 hole course with two rounds costs $20 per person. Register at 8 p.m. and start at 9 p.m. CTP will be held after the tournament. Cost is $1 = 1 throw $5 = 6 throws. Ace pots $1. The Bartlett United Methodist Church will host their monthly Sunday Country Breakfast on Sunday, Sept. 5. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the church dining room.  The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet menu will feature homemade sausage gravy served with biscuits, hot pancakes, breakfast casseroles, hash browns, ham, sausage, fresh fruit, breakfast sweets, coffee, juice, and milk.  Donations will be accepted to support the ministry and mission work of the church.  The public is invited to attend.  Bikers are welcome.

All three high schools in southern Labette County will open their football seasons this Friday night, Sept. 3, and one of them is state-ranked.
Oswego High School will host Quapaw High School (Okla) with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.The Indians will hit the gridiron with plenty of expectations on their shoulders.
Oswego  finished 2009 with an amazing 10-1 record, ending only on a heart-stopping 20-16 loss to Olpe in the second round of the class 2A state playoffs. Pollsters with the online site kansasprepfootball.com have tabbed Oswego as the second-best team in class 2A, according to the pre-seasoen rankings that were released last weekend. Meade, Kan., is picked first, followed by Oswego, Olpe, Pittsburg-Colgan and Centralia.
The game will be aired on Coffeyville radio station KUSN (104.1 FM), which will broadcast the contest as the first “High School Game of the Week” for 2010.
