CHETOPA—Trudy L. Shields, 41, of Chetopa, Kan., formerly of Oswego, died at 1:33 p.m., Thursday, July 29, 2010, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Community Bible Church in Chetopa. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

Trudy was born Feb. 22, 1969, in San Bernardino, Calif., to T.L. and Wanda Lee (Neal) Martin. When Trudy was a baby, her mother married Bob Scott, whom Trudy always considered to be her father. She moved to Chetopa with her family when she was in the eighth grade and was a 1987 graduate of Chetopa High School.
Following high school graduation, she attended Labette Community College where she earned a degree in respiratory therapy. She passed the state board exam but was never able to work in the field of respiratory therapy due to ill health.
She was a member of the Community Bible Church in Chetopa. She especially enjoyed attending her son’s sporting events and spending time at her church. She also enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Those surviving include her mother, Wanda Scott, Chetopa; two sons, Kyle Shields and his fiancee, Lacey Gudde, Parsons; and Ryan Shields, of the home in Chetopa; a brother, Bobby Scott, Chetopa; two sisters, Becky Sanders, Chetopa; and Pam Brown, Cherokee; and a sister-in-law, Crystal Scott, Chetopa.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bob Scott.

PARSONS—Paul J. Seifert, 72, of rural Parsons, Kan., died Sunday evening, Aug. 1, 2010, at his residence from injuries sustained in a farming accident.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

GIRARD—Clara G. Sears Pace, 87, of Girard, Kan., formerly of Oswego, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, in the Girard Medical Center in Girard.
