OSWEGO—Lillie Belle Dresher, 90, of Oswego, Kan., died on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Chetopa Manor in Chetopa, Kan. She was surrounded by many members of her loving family.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 29, at Murdock Funeral Home in Oswego,  with visitation following.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, at Mother of God Catholic Church, Oswego, with Father Larry Parker, Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery in Chetopa, next to her beloved husband, George.

Lillie was born in a log cabin in Benton County, Ark., near Decatur, the ninth child of Don P. and Maude (Leggett) DeWitt, on Feb. 24, 1920. She moved to Chetopa at age 2½ and attended several area rural grade schools, returning to graduate Chetopa High School in 1939. She recently attended her 71st high school reunion. She graduated from the Brown Mackie School of Business in Kansas City, Kan., in 1940 and could type 120 words a minute on a manual typewriter.

On Nov. 8, 1941, she married Robert (Bob) Geer in Liberty, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1950. She married George Dresher on March 24, 1951, in Chetopa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1987.

She worked at Coopers Dairy Bar, Utes Nursing Homes, and as a paraprofessional and Special Ed Bus Driver for Chetopa schools. Later, she drove the Chetopa Senior Citizens and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church while living in Chetopa and Mother of God Catholic Church when she moved to the Westside Senior Citizens Apartments in Oswego in 1992.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Joe, Jim, Raymond, and Ralph DeWitt; and six sistersm Hazel Reynolds, Olive DeWitt, Mae Walker, Dona Asher, Raydell Hamblin and Amy Ledbetter.

Those surviving are her five children, Kay Foster and husband David, Pierce City, Mo.; Ann Moore and husband James, Parsons; Jim Geer and wife Jeani, Minot, ND; Mary Russell and husband John , Oswego; and Theresa Dresher, Kansas City, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, Michael, Donna, Danny, Jamie, Ryan, Tony, Tiffany, Josh, Jeff, Jason, Jessica, Jena, and Julie; 22 great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Larry, Chris, William, Jennifer, Michael, Nathan, Matthew, Jordyn, Jacy, Tia, Madi, Rachelle, Kirstien, Justin, Josh, Jazen, Jordan, Jesse, Brynn, Jaya, and Jolee; 10 great-great-grandchildren, Meki, Kyla, Trey, Lexi, Jerry, Charity, Jacob, Elizabeth, Jorlen, and Jayden; a sister-in-law, Anna DeWitt of Overland Park, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews that were as special to her as her children.

Barbara Gail Strickland

LAWRENCE—Barbara Gail Strickland, 71, of Lawrence, Kan., died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, at Rumsey Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday.

The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association sent in care of the Rumsey Yost Funeral Home, P. O. Box 1260, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Barbara was born Feb. 3, 1939, in Parsons, Kan., the daughter of Ray and Gladys Hughes Shields. She graduated from Parsons High School.

On Sept. 24, 1960, she married Marion Strickland in Jetmore, Kan. He survives of the home.

She worked for Packer plastics and was manager for Ertl’s Self Storage for 25 years.

Those surviving include her husband of the home; two sons, Randy and Stoney and wife Karen, Lawrence; a brother, Ted Sheilds, Oregon; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Daniel Greg Campbell

LINCOLN—Daniel Greg Campbell, 49, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, in rural Lincoln County, Kan., in an automobile accident.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 1, in the Lincoln City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.

Daniel Greg Campbell was born Jan. 16, 1961, in Lincoln, Kan., to Ruben Earle and Delores Fee (Jorgensen) Campbell.

He is survived by his son, Seth Campbell and daughter, Katelyn Campbell, Oswego; and his mother, Delores Campbell, Lincoln; his brothers, Roger Campbell, Houston, Texas; Scott Campbell, Springdale, Ark.; Corey Campbell, Salina; and his sister, Jacque Ivan, Salina.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Earle Campbell.

Tim Turley

PARSONS—Tim Turley, 35, of Parsons, Kan., died Monday, June 21, 2010, at the residence of his mother, Linda Portell. His death was unexpected.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Gary M. Breneman

JAY, Okla.—Gary M. Breneman, 70, of the Grand Lake area, Jay, Okla., and a former longtime Parsons, Kan., resident, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Death followed a year-long illness and complications from myasthenia gravis.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Carson-Wall Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation.

Walter R. Caldwell

PARSONS—Walter R. Caldwell, 80, of Parsons, Kan., died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Labette Health. He was residing at Parsons Presbyterian Manor.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 24, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery south of Oswego.

Juanita F. (Schmid) Hallman

PARSONS—Juanita F. (Schmid) Hallman, 68, of Parsons, died at 6:46 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Labette Health.

PARSONS—Geraldine Warren, 61, of Parsons, Kan., died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Billy Dean “Bill” Mount

WELCH, Okla.—Billy Dean “Bill” Mount, 81, of Welch, Okla., died Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Claremore Veterans Center.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at the Welch Christian Church, with Pastor Brad Canham officiating. Interment will follow at the Welch Cemetery.
