Quilt show to be Friday

The Itchin’ for Stichin’ Quilt Guild, Altamont, will host a quilt trunk show featuring Darcy Ashton of Oklahoma City this Friday, May 21, at 6 p.m. It will be held at the First Baptist Church, 400 S. Wabash, Altamont which is located along U.S. Highway 160.
Darcy has been designing original quilts for over 20 years and has written several best selling appliqué books. She is a hand appliqué expert that has created a unique “stay-where-you-put-it- button hole-stitch.” She published her first book in 2002 “Grandma’s Bunnies”.  It was an immediate success and in the years since, books by Ashton Publications have been sold all over the USA and as far away as New Zealand, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Brazil.
The cost for the evening will be two fat quarters of 100% cotton quilting fabric. These will be used as door prizes later.
Everyone is invited for a fun evening. For information, Call Peggy Reynolds (620-922-3490).The Itchin for Stitchin Quilt Guild, based in Altamont, presented 22 handmade quilts on May 10 to Cindy Deckinger, Chapter Director for the area American Red Cross.
These quilts will be distributed under the disaster relief for children that are victims of house fires.
The Itchin for Stitchin Quilt Guild has an annual quilt donation project for persons or organizations of various needs. The guild was established in 2004 and has grown to a membership of 32.
