BARTLETT—Richard Wayne Evans age 68 of Bartlett, Kan., passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010, at his home in Bartlett.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday May 11, at the Bartlett Christian Church with Pastor Fred Woolridge officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery, rural Columbus, Kan. Pallbearers were Jarob Evans, Logan Britton, Dakota Culp, Garett Britton, Lane Britton, Tristen Williamson, Cody Lawson, Henry Britton, Daniel Culp and Tommy Williams. Masonic Rites and Military Rites by American Legion Post 35 were conducted.

Richard was born July 17, 1941, in Cardin, Okla., the son of Forrest and Juanita (Watson) Evans.
He served in the United States Army overseas during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #35. He also was a Shriner and a 32nd degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Linda Gilliland and Betty Johnson.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Evans of the home; four daughters, Sonya Evans, Bartlett; Sherri Culp, Lamar, Mo.; Tonya Williamson, Oswego, Kan.; and Tara Britton, Bartlett; one son of heart, Cody Lawson, Chetopa, Kan.; and one daughter of heart, Kala Back, Pittsburg, Kan. Also surviving are four brothers, Forrest R. “Bugsy” Evans, Elkton, Ky.; William Evans, Commerce; Charles Lawson, Oswego; and Kenny Akers, Joplin, Mo.; six sisters, Ann Wilson, Welch, Okla.; Tresea Rhodes, Arkansas; Lynn Brown, Oswego; Tina Johnson, Welch, Okla.; Shirley Akers, Webb City, Mo.; and Holly Erwin, Chetopa; 11 grandchildren, Jarob Evans, Logan Britton, McKenna Britton, Aaron Mize, Trisha Culp, Dakota Culp, Garett Britton, Kaelynn Evans, Tristen Williamson, Destiny Evans and Lane Britton and other relatives and many friends.
Alvin Daniel Mauk
WELCH, Okla.—Alvin Daniel Mauk, longtime rural Welch, Okla., rancher, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla., after an illness. He was 81 years old.
Services were held Monday, May 17, at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, with Minister Brad Canham officiating. Grandsons, James Blundell, Erick Mauk, Timothy Mauk, Christopher Mauk, Austin Riley and Chris Foust, served as pallbearers .
Interment was at Oakhill Cemetery, Chetopa, Kan.
Services were under the direction of Jim Thomas, Thomas Funeral Home, Welch.
Alvin was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Kildare, Okla., to Erick and Eva Gayle (Smith) Mauk. In October of 1950, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean Luckie in Vinita, Okla. The couple made their home in Ponca City, Okla.
In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a noted Drill Instructor and Cannoneer at Ft. Hood, Texas, from April 1951 until May of 1953.
In 1966, Alvin and Bonnie moved to the Welch area from Ponca City. With a love for agriculture, they continued farming and ranching. They enjoyed fishing and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Family was everything to him.
Alvin was a talented machinist and inventor. He worked for the Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kan., receiving various awards for his inventions. He was an avid collector of antiques and other treasures.
On March 14, 2003, Bonnie preceded Alvin in death after 53 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one great grandchild; and six sisters.
He is survived by one son, Dennis Ray Mauk, Vinita, Okla; two daughters, Jean and Jim Blundell, Chetopa, Kan.; and Cheryl Ann Riley, Welch; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis and Calvin Mauk; two sisters, Myrtle Fortune and Adeline Stanart; and a host of friends.
James P. “Red” Breslin
ALTAMONT—James P. “Red” Breslin, 56, of Altamont, Kan., died at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, Okla.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 14, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.

Jayne Denise Wells
PARSONS—Jayne Denise Wells, 52, of Parsons, Kan., died early Monday morning, May 10, 2010, in the Select Specialty Hospice Unit at St. Francis Via Christi Regional Medical Center at Wichita. Her death followed a short illness.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 29, at Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Kris Brinlee officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
