A landmark building in downtown Oswego came tumbling down at the hands of demolition crews last weekend.
The building, located at 515 Commercial, was last occupied by Vail’s Automotive, owned by Matt and Fern Vail, until June 2008 when the building was deemed unsafe following a structural shift that resulted in a large hole knocked in a side-wall. Read more

The Oswego pool is being filled and will be ready for swimming on Saturday, May 29.

The Altamont pool will open Friday, May 28.

Tentatively, the Chetopa pool will be open by June 15.

The Labette County High School, Altamont, seniors will be graduating on Saturday, May 22, at 10 a.m. in Harrison Auditorium.

Twenty-six seniors will graduate from Welch High School on Sunday, May 23, at 2 p.m. in the Welch School Gym.

Alumni graduates from Labette County High School held their annual “Alumni Banquet” on May 8, 2010 in the LCHS Cafeteria. There were 445 meals served by the LCHS Cafeteria staff.

Chris Kastler, President, class of 1979 welcomed all the alumni and guests, Dr. Chuck Stockton, Superintendent and Mary Anderson, Principal.

Ron Allison, Vice President, class of 1966 welcomed the class of 2010 who will become Alumni after May 22. Music department directed by Randy Blackwell preformed 3 very good numbers.

There was one alumni form the class of 1936 and two from the class of 1939. Several class were holding reunion in class rooms before the meal.
