County workers had their Christmas in trucks

With Labette County receiving over two inches of rain that turned to ice and then adding over eight inches of snow on Christmas Eve, Labette County Road and Bridge employees spent Dec. 25 and 26 busily maintaining the county roads.
Sandy Krider, supervisor for the Road and Bridge Department, told commissioners on Monday that 18 county employees were out on Christmas day from 2 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and on Dec. 26 there were 14 employees that worked from 10 to 2. Krider said there were four to five foot drifts in places and that four motor graders got stuck. They put v-plows on the two new maintainers and sent them out also. “There were lots of people stuck,” she said.
