William Mahoney, president and chief executive officer of Labette Health in Parsons, submitted his resignation at Thursday’s meeting of the hospital’s board of directors.

Mahoney has held his executive position with Labette Health for the past five years. He told the board that he had accepted a position as chief executive officer of Skaggs Regional Medical Center in Branson, Mo. He will remain at Labette Health until January 7.

During the search for a new CEO, Chief Financial Officer Tom Macaronas, who has been at Labette Health for 11 years, will serve as interim CEO.

During his time at Labette Health, Mahoney led a $32 million expansion of the hospital. Now nearing completion, the project resulted in new and renovated facilities, including the Rector Diabetes Education and Resource Center, which was dedicated last month, and the Center of Rehabilitation Excellence, which will celebrate its grand opening December 15.
