The Labette County Fair Board meeting was held Nov. 18, at the Wyckoff Education Unit in Altamont. Meeting called to order by President Steve McKinzie with 13 members present.Minutes read and approved as read. John Strickland gave treasure’s report. Rod Landrum moved and Ken Foster seconded to accept treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
President Steve McKinzie gave an update on the Oswego City meeting about the ball diamonds. Rick McKinzie passed around a volunteer sign-up sheet to donate labor and/or equipment for use on ball diamonds.
New Business: Steer and heifer weigh in were discussed. Ken Foster moved and Dan Peterson seconded to have weigh in on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Mike Landrith’s cattle facility on Rooks road. Motion carried.
The president reported Elsie Vail was nominated to the Kansas Fair Association Hall of Fame for her many years of dedicated service to the Labette County Fair.
Jeff Falkenstien moved and Dan Peterson seconded to pay $50 for membership fees to Kansas Fair Association. Motion carried.
Rod Landrum is going to check on availability of a carnival for next years fair.
Dates were set for the 2010 Labette County Fair on July 25 through 31, 2010. There will be no fair board meeting in December.
