After 16 years of serving as head coach for the Labette County High School Grizzlies football team, Craig Hartman has resigned.
Hartman led the Grizzlies to 11 winning seasons and a trip to the Class 4A state playoffs this season.
He started his teaching career at Edna Grade School then moved to the high school where he took over coaching the freshman boys football squad.
Under Hartman, LCHS won five district championships outright and tied for a sixth in 2004.
Known for teaching his young athletes a motto about persistence and all his players could depend upon the coach’s leading of The Lord’s Prayer before each game.
Hartman did not announce his plans or if he intended to continue his teaching career at LCHS.
