Dr. Elmer Dale Pefflyobit-drpeffly

CHETOPA—Dr. Elmer Dale Peffly, 87, of Chetopa, Kan., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at his home.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home in Baxter Springs, Kan. Private services will take place in Waldron, Kan.

Dr. Peffly was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Waldron, Kan., to Alden and Vera (Fairchild) Peffly.

Dale graduated from Waldron High School in 1941. He was in the U.S. Army Training Camp in Stillwater, Okla., in 1943. he graduated from Northwestern State College in Alva, Okla., in 1945. He taught science and biology and coached basketball at cherokee High School in Cherokee, Okla., in 1949, before entering medical school. Dr. Peffly graduated from Oklahoma University medical School in 1953. He had a one year internship at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan., before going to the Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas, for two years.

On Sept. 3, 1947, Dale married Frances Opal Hess in Anthony, Kan.

Dr. Peffly moved to Chetopa, Kan., in 1957, where he had a family practice. He retired in 1997, after 40 years of practice.

He is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Schnider of Orofino, Idaho; Carla Peffly of Chetopa; and Catherine Ingram of Bartlesville, Okla.; two sons, Charles Peffly of Joplin, Mo.; and Frank Peffly of Coffeyville, Kan.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Dr. Peffly was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Eugene G. “George’ Robinson

PARSONS—Eugene G. “George” Robinson, 84, of Parsons, Kan., died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Elmhaven East in Parsons. He had been in failing health.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Labette Health Foundation and may be left at or sent to the funeral home at P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.

David L. “Dave” Panek

ALTAMONT—David L. “Dave” Panek, 65, of Altamont, Kan., a former Parsons resident, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at his home. He had been in failing health.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Altamont. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
