There will be an annual Fly-in at the Oswego Airport on Saturday, Oct. 10. This event is free and open to the public.  Spectators are needed, and the motive of the Airport Committee is to show support and create an interest in the airport. Read more

Dr. Gordon Kern and Connie Blundell, R.N.

A  family practice physician joined the staff at the Oswego Community Hospital. Gordon Kern, M.D., started taking appointments on Sept. 22.
Dr. Kern and his wife, Paula, a CPA, have a son, Calvin.
He graduated from Kansas University in 1999 and did his residency in Eldorado, Ark. Dr. Kern is an avid  reader. Read more

Debbi Baugher, administrator of the Labette County Health Dept., Baugher gave an update on the H1N1 virus during Monday’s meeting of the county commission.
While there, Baugher received the chairman’s signature on a document  pertaining to H1N1 funding in the amount of $31,885 plus $1,000 from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Read more

Former Oswego student and teacher/coach were reunited in Iraq at Camp Liberty.  Captain Preston Blair and Command Sergeant Major Curtis Weldon. Blair is a career soldier and Weldon is on active duty with the Kansas National Guard and now resides in Hiawatha, Kan.

Karen will receive $20 for winning the contest.
The smiley face in the Sept. 23 edition was printed on page B2 in the Farm Bureau annual meeting article, column 3 between Community and college.
