Altamont grocery to open Saturday

Finally, Altamont gets its new grocery store. Since the first of the year, Dean and Debbie Fouts have been working on their new store.
According to Debbie, the store will be housed in three 100-year-old buildings which needed a lot of repair before the store could be opened. The volunteers who came from everywhere in large numbers have helped tremendously to get the store open.
The new grocery store will be open for the first day on Saturday, July 18. The Foutses have said it will be a soft opening at first to give them time to tweak the problems and find out what the needs of the community will be. In about a month, they will have a grand opening.
At first, the hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The store will have a deli with evening specials. The Foutses are very conscious that what they are doing must meet the needs of the community. They consider this a town consumer grocery store. They say they are still awestruck by the acceptance and sharing of the citizens who have given and participated in the preparations for the grocery.
To call the grocery store, use the new number (620) 784-5800.
