The Altamont will hosts its annual celebration of Flag Day on Saturday, June 14.
The Altamont Flag Day committee, along with Dianna Wells and Amanda Pierce, organizers, announce the following activities this year: Fire Department will be offering biscuits and gravy breakfast, from 6-9 a.m. 5K and one mile fun run will start at 7:30 a.m.
There will be crafts and informational booths and food vendors. A quilt show will be held in the Fire Dept, at 9 a.m. The Altamont Itchin’ for Stitchin’ Guild will have demonstrations from 9-noon.
There will be children’s games such as: sidewalk chalk contest at 9 a.m.; money in the haystack at 9:30; turtle race (no decorated turtles) at 10; bubble blowing contest at noon; hula hoop contest at 12:30’ egg toss at 1; balloon toss at 1:30; shower cap stick at 2; saltine whistle at 2:30; 3-legged race at 3 and water wheelbarrow race at 3:30.
A horseshoe tournament will be held in the City Park with registration from 10-11. Play will begin at 11 a.m.
Hot air balloon rides will be available from Skyway Balloons Inc. They will take you 50-ft. in the air at South Huston and McMillian Ave., for $10 per person. Karaoke by Sound Company with Bama will be held from 1-4 p.m..
The parade will begin at 11 a.m., line up will begin at 10:30 behind Harrison Auditorium. Prize drawings will be held at 4 p.m. in the Fire Dept. Konnie’s Koncessions will be available all day.
A free bean feed will be held at 6 p.m. with music by Alan Banzet. A free street dance with Rick Cook will he held at 8 p.m.
