Mary M. Shugart

OSWEGO—Mary M. Shugart, 91, of Oswego Kan., passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009, in the Oswego Community Hospital in Oswego, Kan., after an illness.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus, Kan., with the Pastor Susan Daniel-Brey officiating and burial taking place at the Friendship Friends Cemetery northwestt of Columbus. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m., Monday April 27.

Mary was born the daughter of Lawrence and Lula (Vaughn) Blackard on July 30, 1917.

She married C. Roger Shugart on Sept. 4, 1937, near Marion, Ind. He preceded her in death.

Mary enjoyed painting, gardening and sewing. She was a member of the Evangelical Friends Church all her married life and was the pianist and/or organist for the service for 60 years.

She is survived by six daughters, Lois Knight, Spencer, Iowa, Rebecca Potter, Oswego; Jean Welle, Oswego; Faith Mitchel, Centennial, Colo.; Hope Just and husband Wilber, Clearwater, Kan.; Dawn Russell and husband Roy, Oswego.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Otis Wayne Blackard, Sr.; and a sister, Loveda Prichett.

Rexann Etka Williamson

OSWEGO—Rexann Etka Williamson, 63, of Oswego, Kan., passed away quietly,  Sunday, April 26, 2009.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, in the Oswego Cemetery with Pastor Paul Wiand officiating. Condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhomes.com.

Rexann was born Feb. 5, 1946, the daughter of Rex Steele and Phyllis Jane (Brader) Bray.

She married Lucky Lee McCulley on Aug.19, 1963,  and he preceded her in death in 1975. The couple had two daughters, Lori and Lea. She later married Owen Eugene Williamson on Sept. 30, 1978, and he preceded her in death in 1992. The couple had a son, Nicholas Bray Williamson.

She leaves behind her daughters, her son, granddaughters, Chelce and Racey; grandsons, Brader and Dual; great-granddaughter, Madison; and great-grandsons, Avery and Wyatt.

We love you Mom and thanks for it all.

Cecilia M. Baughercecilia-baugher-for-newspaper

PARSONS—Cecilia M. Baugher, 58, of rural Parsons, Kan., died at 7:58 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2009, at her home, following a courageous three year battle with cancer.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends immediately following the Rosary.

Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 63757.

Cecilia was born March 16, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo., to James and Mary Margaret (Switlik) Dreiling. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Parsons where she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, and then Labette County High School in Altamont where she graduated in 1969. She later attended Labette Community College in Parsons.

Following high school graduation, she worked at Fred Ronald Manufacturing Company in Parsons, and later at Sears and Slaybaugh Drug.

On Aug. 1, 1970, she married Raymond C. Baugher at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parsons. Throughout most of their marriage, she was bookkeeper for Baugher Farms.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and its Altar Society, Caldwell Circle Club, EHU, and a former member of PTO at Meadow View School.

She enjoyed golf and shopping with her best friend, Joyce Fultz, and was active in the Labette County Genealogical Society. She especially enjoyed attending her children’s activities and spending time with her two granddaughters.

Those surviving are her husband, Raymond Baugher, of the home, rural Parsons; two daughters, Malisa Putnam and husband, Trey, Lenexa, Kan.; and Tara Baugher and fiancé Jason Jacobsen, Kansas City, Mo.; two granddaughters, Mia and Mairin Putnam; parents, Jim and Mary Dreiling, Parsons; two sisters, Cynthia Bender and husband Rich, Kansas City, Mo.; Christine Young and husband Mark, Shawnee, Kan.; and two nieces.

Betty Mae Seabolt

WELCH, Okla.—Betty Mae Seabolt, 75, of Welch, Okla., died Thursday, April 23, 2009.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 27, at the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Welch.
