Tucker recognized for 35 years of service
Observer John Tucker was presented a Length of Service Award for 35 years of service for the Oswego 1N area. Leon Wasinger, Cooperative Program Manager, of the National Weather Service in Wichita, presented the award to Tucker on June 26.
During the past 35 years, Tucker has provided precipitation and river readings for the Oswego area. He is a part of a National Network of Observers, consisting of over 11,000 observers. This data is collected and sent to the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) and to the Weather Data Library at Kansas State University.
NCDC publishes these records monthly, making them available to the public. Kansas State University also collects the data, and it can be requested by the public. The data provided by the Observers is used for a wide variety of uses ranging from climatological studies to businesses to the media.
The National Weather Service extends their sincere appreciation to John Tucker for his 35 years of dedicated service.
