Who We Are
The Flint Hills Express is our favorite long-distance newspaper. Of course, it’s the “only” newspaper we operate without an office. But thanks to the most helpful readers in the world, we’re able to print 10- to 12 pages each week — sometimes more!
Jenny Diveley is the manager of the Flint Hills Express, as well as the Sedan Times-Star, and she runs the whole show from her home office at Independence. From there she supervises two part-time employees in our Sedan office, and communicates with Jerry Wagner at Howard and a plethora of Elk County folks who simply write news articles because they care about their countywide community.
Jenny works from home because she believes in being a stay-at-home mother, and little Trenton, age 3, appreciates that plan. Jenny is married to Landon Diveley who teaches math and coaches basketball at Independence High School.
Landon and Jenny are active members of the Tyro Christian Church where they both play in the praise band — he as a drummer and she as a pianist.
Thanks to modern technology, Jenny can zip stories, photos and ads from hither to yon as quickly as the Worldwide Web can travel, and the last time we checked that was 186,000 miles per second! Of course, she also talks on the telephone throughout the day, sends and receives up to 100 emails a day and slides in a few faxes to even out the score.
Jenny is our technology expert, too, and stays in frequent communication our consultant who lives in Lawrence.
By the way, Jenny Diveley is Rudy and Kathy Taylor’s daughter and a sister to Andy Taylor.
The Flint Hills Express is primarily focused upon Elk County but we have many readers in Cowley, Greenwood, Chautauqua and Sedgwick counties, too.
Andy Taylor takes time away from his responsibilities as editor of the Montgomery County Chronicle to help Jenny write sports and take school oriented pictures, and publisher Rudy Taylor heads up Highway 99 every chance he gets.
Kathy Taylor writes “Life’s Little Lifesavers” for the Flint Hills Express but she spends most of her time managing our Caney office.
