Fall sports action to get underway at area schools
The fall sports season in area schools will get underway next week.
At Elk Valley High School, the Elk Valley varsity volleyball team will play at Chetopa next Tuesday, Sept. 2. Matches will begin at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The Lions’ varsity football team will kickoff the gridiron season with a home contest against Argonia on Friday, Sept. 5. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., in Longton.
At West Elk High School, the Patriot volleyball team will travel to Douglass next Tuesday, Sept. 2, for freshman, junior varsity and varsity matches beginning at 4 p.m.
Sports action continues for West Elk on Thursday, Sept. 4 with high school volleyball at Central-Burden. Matches get underway at 5 p.m.
Junior high football and volleyball teams will host scrimmages on Thursday, Sept 4. The volleyball team will scrimmage at 6 p.m. while the football team will hold a practice at 7 p.m.
The West Elk High School football team will host Remington on Friday, Sept. 5, for the 2008 season opener. Kickoff will be held at 7 p.m., at West Elk Stadium.
Central-Burden High School will see sports action on Tuesday, Sept. 2 with volleyball teams traveling to Leon-Bluestem. The Raiders will play Central-Burden and Berean Academy with matches slated to begin at 6 p.m.
The Raider cross country team will compete at Clearwater on Thursday, Sept. 4, and the Central-Burden volleyball team will play at home that same day with matches against Cedar Vale and Dexter. Action begin at a5 p.m.
The Central-Burden varsity football team will host Cedar Vale in the season opener for both teams on Friday, Sept. 5. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., in Burden.
