Dyer softball tournament in Longton Labor Day Weekend
By Shari Kaminska
The Woodrow Dyer Memorial Coed Softball Tournament will be held in Longton on Aug. 30-31. Eight teams comprised of friends, families and neighbors will go to battle in a slow-pitch softball tournament, played round-robin style, which will total 28 games in two days.
The action will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, when the “Mostly Nichols” team will face the McElroy team. The Crowell vs Hanks contest will be up next. The Dyer Connection crew will take on the Cook team at 10 a.m., and Team Kaminska will square off against Osburn Farms after that. The final game will be played at 9 p.m. on Sunday night.
Woodrow “Woody” Dyer devoted many summers coaching and umpiring Longton area youth, and the tournament that bears his name, now in its 20th year, continues to benefit the Longton summer ball program.
Make plans to spend part of your Labor Day weekend at the 20th Anniversary Dyer Tournament.
