Area youths invited to Summer Science Day
LONGTON — The Independence Science and Technology Center will host a Summer Science Day in Longton on Thursday, June 27, at the city park with events beginning at 9:30 a.m., and ending at 3 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
Participants will do a different science project every 20 to 30 minutes. These could include making slime, shooting water rockets, making a kite, study sound, optical illusions, a gravity race car, and some new projects.
The Summer Science Fun in the Park programs are part of ISTC’s effort to provide activities for students during the summer when boredom can set in. ISTC’s goal is help students “Understand Our Fascinating World.”
The program is for children age 6 through 12. The cost is $20 per child and $15 for each additional family member.
Participants will need to bring a sack lunch. Snacks will be provided. Students are encouraged to drink plenty of water during the day, and it is suggested that they wear a hat or sun screen lotion.
