Howard Community Clean-Up Day
By Shari Kaminska
Elk Konnected Physical Image Action Team is coordinating a Community Clean-up Day for Howard, to be held on Saturday, June 21. Action team members are working with city government to identify projects and develop a plan to complete tasks.
Community members who have an hour or more free on June 21, are encouraged to drop by the Howard City Park between 8 a.m. and noon to lend a hand with painting and other clean-up projects. Drinks, snacks, and lunch will be provided.
Interested kids, organizations, church groups, and adult volunteers are encouraged to contact Ernie Small at 620-374-2459 or Ian Denton at 620-374-2878 to get involved with the Howard clean-up day. Suggestions for projects are also welcome.
Howard’s Community Clean-up day follows a productive clean-up day in Moline, which was held on May 17. Next time you drive by Moline City Park, check out the freshly-painted yellow playground equipment and piping. Grenola’s clean-up day was held on May 3. Elk Valley School District gave Elk Falls and Longton a clean-up on its annual Community Appreciation Day on April 30. Planning is underway for a clean-up day in Severy in August, just in time for that community’s Labor Day celebration.
