BREAKING NEWS: Patriots win state track title

The West Elk High School men’s track team earned the highest honor in the state on Saturday, claiming the class 2A state track and field championship at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

Aided by three gold-medal performances, the Patriots won the state championship with 47 team points, one point better than runner-up Sterling.

Sonny Lee claimed two state titles in individual events. He won the 200 meter and 400 meter runs. Meanwhile, Taylor Lowe won a state title in the long jump contest.

More details of the Patriots’ state championship will be printed in the May 28th edition of the Flint Hills Express.
