ECCEF funds children’s summer transportation program
The Elk County Community and Education Foundation voted to once again fund bus travel to pick up grade school children in the neighboring communities and bring them to the Howard City Pool. Susan Galvan, Pool Manager, will be coordinating the details with the pool schedules. The program was a success last year with 60 children using the transportation over the few weeks it was offered. This year we will offer afternoon transportation from July 7 to August 15.
Last year the bus was provided by the Elk County General Public Transportation, and we are discussing our plans with them again this year. Details on pick-up locations will be forthcoming. And all children of Elk County and Severy can go to the assigned pick-up locations.
If you have any suggestions that will help us improve this project in particular or the community in general, please contact a member of the Elk County Community and Education Foundation. We are also looking for new board members who want to make a difference in our community. Our current officers are Shari Kaminska, President (Longton); Deanna Cannon, Vice President (Moline); Linda Cooke, Secretary (Howard) and Joanna Hunter, Treasurer, (Howard).
