Two area schools will hold graduations this weekend
BURDEN CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL -
The Class of 2008 at Central High School in Burden will receive their diplomas during commencement exercises set for Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. in the high school gymnasium.
A baccalaureate service will be held tonight (Wednesday) at the Burden United Methodist Church starting at 7 p.m.
The valedictorian is Shawnell Shepherd and the salutatorian is Amber Osborn.
The class motto is: “We might not have it all together, but together we have it all.”
The class flower is the rose and class colors are dark blue and silver.
Class president is Shawnell Shepherd, vice president - Megan Haunschild, secretary - Justina Ross and treasuer - Tyler Kill.
Those scheduled to graduate and their tentative plans are:
Cory Archer - Friends University; Jody Cameron - Machine Tool Associates; Casey Day - Cowley College; Stephanie Diamond - Cowley College; Zach Drescher - Butler County Community College; Megan Haunschild - Cowley College; James Hemphill - Work in Area; Brian Hopper - Community College; Jolene Jacobs - Community College; Austin Keesey - Oil Industry; Chuck Kidd - Butler County Community College.
Tyler Kill - Butler County Community College; Allen Lester - Cowley College; Dustin Littrell - Cowley College; C.J. Lockhart - Southwestern College; Ryan Mann - Technical School; Melissa McMichael - Cowley College; Josh McMinn - Butler County Community College; Ashli Moore - Barton County Community College; Amber Osborn - Wichita State University; Rio Parker-Garcia - Cowley College; Tianna Reynolds - Coffeyville Community College; Justin Ross - Neosho County Community College.

WEST ELK HIGH SCHOOL -
Thirty seniors will graduate from West Elk High School during commencement ceremonies Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. in the school auditorium.
A reception will be held in the cafeteria immediately following the graduation exercises and everyone is invited to attend.
Those listed on the program to receive diplomas include:

The Class of 2008 motto is “It’s not the destination that counts. It’s the journey.”
The class colors are silver and purple and the class flower is the Japanese Cherry Blossom.
Kyle Huntington and Caitlin JuAire will serve as honor juniors and Shane Hall, Sonny Lee, Shilo Malone and Kaylee Perkins will be ushers.
Boyd Koehn and Lisa Harrod are class sponsors.
