Townsley files for County Clerk

Lisa Townsley of Moline has filed for the office of Elk County Clerk on the Republican ticket.

Townsley, originally from Moline, returned to her hometown in 1994, with her husband Mark, to raise their two kids. They felt deeply rooted in Moline and wanted their two children, David and Kailey, raised where they were, in a small town.

Lisa and Mark are both graduates of West Elk High School. After graduating she moved to El Dorado to attend Butler County Community College to obtain a degree in accounting. Townsley’s own and operate Townsley Barn Co. and have for the past several years. When Knight Lumber in Severy , Mark’s then employer, went out of business, they purchased bought the barn building portion. It was then moved to Elk County and have been busy since then.

Lisa has been the City Clerk of Moline for the past nine years. She has her certification in Municipal Certified Clerks Institute from WSU. Previously she worked in the County Treasurer’s Office as the Deputy Treasurer.

She is familiar with the workings of a government office, i.e. bills, accounting, payroll, retirement, elections, ect… In 1998 she was asked, by Marvis Gaddie, to take the County Clerk’s position but turned it down. Townsley says, “I did not feel I would be able to put my whole heart into it at that time. I strongly feel that friendliness and knowledge is a main staple of any office.”

She is an active member of the Moline Chamber and currently serving as their secretary/treasurer. She and Mark are also active Elk County Rodeo Stockholders.

In 2002 she became a part-time deputy for the Elk County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Moline. She can be seen patroling around the Moline streets at night on occasion.

Lisa has also, over the last couple of years been busy with the Moline Cemetery project. She has documented, photographed and mapped the Moline Cemetery as well as the Mt. Olivet Cemetery and listed all the names and dates on the Internet site that she created. She is currently documenting and photographing the City of Moline for historical purposes.
