Local 4-H members are urging everyone to attend the Chautauqua County 4-H Fair which starts Thursday in Sedan.

“Come on out and enjoy the fun,” said 4-H agent Ben Allen.

Chautauqua County 4-H’ers are right in the middle of the fair and indoor exhibits are already in place. Livestock is stalled. “Let the fun begin,” Allen said.

Thursday’s schedule starts with the swine show at 8 a.m. Hang around afterwards and enjoy lunch at the 4-H building. The building is air conditioned (thanks to Frank Adcock, Chad Whitmire and Brad Monday).

The beef and bucket calf show will start at 5 p.m. Thursday. The bucket calf show is usually one of the crowd favorites. And for those of you with talent, the Open Mic Talent Festival kicks off at 6:30.
Evening food concessions will be provided by CERTS.

Friday’s activities start off with the sheep and goat show. Lunch will be available in the 4-H building. At 5 p.m., the 3 Rivers Muzzle Loaders will provide a bean and cornbread feed for just one dollar.

The pedal pull kids need to be ready to start at 6 p.m. Everyone is urged to grab a lawn chair and come up and watch these kids pedal as fast and as far as they can.

A youth dance will follow in the pavilion.

Saturday morning at 10, all showmanship winners will be in the arena trying to win the Round Robin Buckle. At 11a.m., the Celebrity Barnyard Olympics will get underway. Come up and enjoy a good time and a good laugh.

Lunch will be served in the 4-H building . At 1 p.m., 4-H Shooting Sports Instructors will give a shooting demonstration. Candidates for county and state offices will be in the pavilion at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and hear what they have to say.

The 4-H premium sale will start at 5 p.m. followed by the Bull Storm at 7:30. If you like the excitement of bull riding, the Bull Storm is for you. Some of the top bulls and bull riders in this area will be on hand to match each other. $1,500 in added money, along with a percent of the entry fees will add to make the purse.

Tickets for the Bull Storm are $6 for adults and $4 for kids.

“Beat those high gas prices and stay right here at home for some good old fashioned entertainment,” Allen said.

“We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy food, fun and 4-H.”
