Independence Day celebrations in Labette County
Independence Day celebrations in the area include: Altamont and Oswego will display fireworks on July 3 while Chetopa has an all-day celebration on July 4.
The First Baptist Church of Altamont has a fish fry in conjunction with the fireworks display.
Oswego will have Rick Cook entertaining beginning at 7 p.m. The following food vendors will be serving: The Assembly of God Church will have water and pop. The Oswego Lions Club will serve kettle corn and ice cream. The PTO will serve hot dogs, nachos, and Glow-in-the-dark necklaces. The OHS Cheerleaders will serve snow cones and lemonade. The City was seeking other vendors. The fireworks display will begin after dark at approximately 9:15-9:30 p.m. at the ballfield in Oswego.
Chetopa has all-day activities beginning with horseshoe pitching at 10 a.m. There will be pool game, a baby contest, food vendors (hot dogs, polish, drinks, a catfish fry) a band, a street dance with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m., at the park.
The public is invited to all of the events listed.
