Elk County Rodeo set for July 3-4

This year’s annual Elk County Rodeo will be under the direction of Shawn Mills, rodeo president. Barnes and Sons Rodeo Company of Tahlequah, Okla., will again provide the stock and handlers for this year’s rodeo which will be sanctioned by both the ACRA and IPRA. The Mutton Bustin’ sheep will again be furnished by Marvin and Kathy Zimmers of Moline.

Two nights of rodeo action will take place Thursday and Friday night, July 3-4, at the Moline Rodeo Arena. Starting time will be 8 p.m. for both evenings with Mutton Bustin’ beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Books have been open since June 30.

Admission is $7 for adults; $3 for children ages 6 – 12, 5 and under is free.

Music will be provided by Lightening J Productions Thursday night after the rodeo. Fireworks will be Friday night after the rodeo. The fireworks are sponsored by the Moline Chamber of Commerce.

The association and stockholders would like to thank the following for their support and sponsorship: Calf Roping – Chig Ames Memorial by Bill Ames and Marilyn Wilkerson; Bareback Riding – Hendricks Enterprises, Doug and Liz Hendricks and Sundgren Realty; Bull Dogging – McDonald Propane, Mike Mills and KanDo Tank Service, Ed and Carey Triboulet; Team Roping – Mills Feed and Supply, Wanda, Shawn, Chelise and Stephanie; Bronc Riding – Jacot Ranches, Paul and Eva Jacot, John and Donna Jacot; Bull Riding – Triple 7 Ranch, Larry and Marilyn Galvan; Ladies Barrel Racing – Bank of Moline a branch of Howard State Bank; Girls Barrel Racing – KUSN 98.1 FM, Coffeyville; Calf Scramble – KSOK 95.9 FM, Arkansas City; and Mutton Bustin’ – Bank of Moline a branch of Howard State Bank. All of the events are state and locally sponsored with the addition of $750 prize money to each event. There is a bonus of $250 for the bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding events this year.

Come on out and enjoy the rodeo, dance, fireworks and eat a char-broiled hamburger from the concession stand.
