Weekend activities abound in Montgomery County

Weekend activities abound in Montgomery County. Listed below are details of several events. They include:

• Cowboy Trading Days and Mule Competition: Plans are underway for the Second Annual H&H Cowboy Trading Days and Mule Competition to be held Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15. Vendors may set up on Friday, June 13.

The location of the event will be 3 1/2 miles north of Caney on Hwy. 75. Starting time is 9 a.m. and will last until dark, and will be held rain or shine.

Vendors will include horses, mules, tack, western art, trailers, ranch and horse related equipment. If you have horses or mules to sell, they must have a negative coggins. It will cost $10 per head, whether or not the animal sells, and you must keep the animal tied to a trailer or bring your own pen.

New for this year will be a horse and mule competition to be held on Saturday only. There will be a mule jump, obstacle course and a race (50/50 pot).

This is an outdoor event with electrical hook-ups, showers and bathroom facilities available. There will absolutely be no alcohol or discharging of firearms.

Organizers are hoping for a large turnout on June 14-15 that will make this a growing, annual event that the community and surrounding area can look forward to every year.
