Quarter Horse show to be held in Sedan

The Kansas Foundation Quarter Horse Registry Affiliate, Inc. will have a one day promotional show in Sedan on Saturday, May 31, at the Lou Todd Arena.

According to the Foundation’s website the purpose of the Foundation Quarter Horse Registry (FQHR) is to preserve and protect the working cow horse bloodlines. The Registry recognizes those first 27,000 horses registered by the American Quarter Horse Association. True Foundation Quarter Horses carry at least 75 percent Foundation blood with no registered thoroughbred closer than the fourth generation. Keeping and preserving the bloodlines is, and will continue to be, the goal of the Registry.

The Sedan show will offer many avenues of competition for horse and rider. Members and non-members are encouraged to enter the open, amateur, non-member and youth events.

Entry fees are $8 for members, $10 for nonmembers and $4 for youth.

Cattle charges are: Cutting - $25; Roping and Team Sorting - $10 per person; Ranch Cutting and Working Ranch Horse - $15.

Jim McMahn of Cedar Vale will be the host for the show. Call him with questions at 620-725-5589. Other information and entry forms may be obtained at www.kfqhra.com.
