Cherry Blossom Festival plans finalized
CHERRYVALE — Plans for the 26th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival continue to be finalized this week.
The annual festival, sponsored by the Cherryvale Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, and will include a full day and evening of activities for all ages at Logan Park.
Evening activites will feature a free fireworks show from the Logan Park Stadium as well as concerts by the country music group Rick Cook and Seminole, starting at 6 p.m., as well as the classic rock n’ roll group Retrorockerz, which will be on stage at 8 p.m. The concerts will conclude with a free fireworks show with the best seating being from the Logan Park Stadium bleachers.
The Cherry Blossom Festival activities will begin at 9 a.m., and include dozens of artisans, food vendors and commercial firms. As of Monday, more than 52 crafters and artisans had registered with about 10 food vendors — serving everything from barbecue to fried candy bars — slated to be in attendance.
Tina Cunningham, Cherry Blossom Festival organizer, said she expected more vendors to register as the festival day draws closer.
The festival’s annual classic car and motorcycle show — always a crowd favorite — will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and include door prizes throughout the day. Registration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m.
Awards will be given for the top 20 entries. Special awards will be given in six areas: best of show, best modified car, best original truck, best original truck, best modified truck, and best motorcycle.
Entry fee is $15 per vehicle.
Kids’ carnival rides and a children’s petting zoo will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and antique tractors will be on display during the day. Musical entertainment will be performed throughout the day.
Vendor booth spaces are still available. They are $35 (outdoor) and $45 (indoor) for 10×10 spaces. Electric and parking behind the booth have additional fees.
