Caney Chamber hopes lot signs will get prospective owners’ attention

CANEY — The Caney Chamber of Commerce is making a continued effort to get new houses built in the community, and seven signs went up this week to promote available building lots.

Frank LaForge who is spearheading a Caney Housing Committee, said most of the lots are privately owned and would make good lots for constructing new homes.

Two different city incentives are available to anyone building inside the Caney city limits. Information on city incentives can be obtained at the Caney City Hall from city administrator Don Whitman.

As of this week, seven lots have signs placed on them making it known that they can be bought, LaForge said.

The seven lot locations are:

• 113 N. Wood, owned by Joseph Wynn, located just north of the mobile home on Wood Street.

• 307 S. High Street, owned by Fred Carra. This is the third property south of Salsman Oil on the east side of the street.

• 312 S. Hooker, Rob Scimeca owner. This is a vacant lot located across the alley behind the Scimeca home.

• 505 N. Fawn, Denise Wald, owner. This is a100 ft. lot.

• 202 N. Spring and 107 W. Second, Dorothy Kendrick, owner. Owner needs to sell them at once.

• 405 N. Spring, Bill and Shelli Koons, owners. This a lot south of the Caney Nazarene Church.
